Our story
We learned this trade in France, on free-form projects, at a time when very few companies were building them. We settled in Marrakech — not to export a method, but because this is where the trade makes full sense.
The path
At the time, the French pool was a rectangle. Free forms existed, but they remained marginal: few companies knew how to reinforce a curve and spray concrete onto it. That is where we started, on projects where everything had to be set out on the ground and adjusted on site, because no catalogue gave the answer.
This is not a trade you learn on a crash course. A submerged shallow area whose slope is three degrees out cannot be put right afterwards.
You mostly learn this trade by going back to pools built years earlier. That is where you really understand what ages well, what fails, and why.
What fails is almost never the structure. It is the waterproofing at inside corners, badly finished wall penetrations, the waterline, reinforcement laid too close to the surface. It is that feedback which shaped the way we work — far more than any technical data sheet.
We settled in Morocco recently. It is from Marrakech that we study projects and follow the works, as a builder of bespoke lagoon pools.
The reason is simple. The lagoon pool was invented for gardens in hot climates, with planting, changes of level and a gradual entry into the water. In France, you often had to convince people. Here, the site does half the work: the gardens have levels, established olive trees, rammed-earth walls, and a culture of water going back centuries.
Marrakech is our base, not our limit. We want to build lagoon pools wherever the climate and the gardens lend themselves to it — Casablanca, Rabat, Agadir, Essaouira, Tangier, and the countryside around them.
We will do it in order, keeping control over the follow-up of every project rather than growing faster than our ability to see it through.
In practice
Concrete sprayed onto custom reinforcement, the cover over the steel, the slopes of the shallow area: these are not parameters we discover on your site.
Seeing pools again long after they were filled is what explains why we insist so much on details that are invisible on handover day.
The construction methods come from our practice in France. The choices of materials, filtration and water management, on the other hand, are recalibrated for the Moroccan climate: heat, dust, hard water and heavy evaporation have nothing to do with a European summer.
We live here. That means we can come back to adjust the filtration after the first season, step in for a repair, and stand behind our projects over time — which a company that builds and then takes the plane home cannot do.
The way we work
A quote drawn up over the phone or from a photo is a quote that will move. The nature of the ground, machinery access and levels determine a large part of the price. Until we have come, we do not know — and we would rather say so.
A lump sum lets you neither compare, nor understand where the money goes, nor make trade-offs if the budget gets tight. You must be able to see what the earthworks, the structure, the waterproofing, the plumbing and the surroundings cost, separately.
Earthworks, structure, waterproofing, plumbing, surroundings: the project is followed by the same people. That is what avoids the sentence everyone has already heard on a building site — “that wasn’t us, that was the other trade”.
The cover, the type of filtration, the pool’s exposure and the choice of planting are all settled at the design stage. Afterwards, most of those savings become impossible or expensive. In a region where water matters, it is dealt with at the outset.
Frankly
Better to say it straight away: it saves time on both sides.
